Finca La Esperanza was bought by Angel brothers in 1972 and was run by them for the next
30 years. Following the passing of the Gilberto Angel in 2002, the farm administration passed on to
Beatriz Giraldo, his wife. This farm provides for the livelihoods of her son and daughter as
well as herself. Together they manage the farm focusing on producing higher quality by implementing
alternative fermentation processes to achieve a more complex flavour in the cup. This lot has
an extra dry fermentation phase where the washed and sorted cherries are placed in sealed
bags form a period of time before pulping and washing. Pedro, the son, is a certified Q Processor and both he and his sister Lucia are Biologists, the expertise they bring to this unique coffee. The farm is located in Risaralda in the municipality of Pereria at an elevation of 1.450 to
1.500 MASL. The average temperature of 21 C. The main varieties planted are Colombia and
Castillo. The total area of the farm is 18,97 Hectares and 13,22 are planted in coffee.
